“Um…”
“Since we are family now, let’s drop the formalities,” Tong Sui stepped closer, “Okay?”
“N-No, that’s not possible.”
Bai Xingluo could faintly smell a sweet fragrance on him, which intensified slightly. He rolled his dry throat and spoke softly, his voice slightly hoarse: “…because you are the male lord.”
Alright then.
It seemed that she wouldn’t be able to change that easily, and Tong Sui didn’t want to force her.
However, he needed to think about what would be a better way to address Bai Xingluo.
Calling him by his full name felt too distant.
If he were to blurt out his full name in public one day, it would confirm how unfamiliar they really were.
What should he call him?
“…Luo Luo?”
Bai Xingluo trembled slightly, his knees growing weak.
Those two syllables seemed to carry a magical power, evoking inexplicable feelings that drained him of all strength, and his breath became hot.
“Do you like that name? It feels more intimate.”
“Male Lord, I really like it.”
It felt like a rope, one end tied to the tip of his heart, the other held by Tong Sui’s hand. Though he unintentionally tugged at it with his fingertips, it never failed to ensnare his thoughts.
The facade of calm he tried to maintain always crumbled in front of Tong Sui.
In a flurry, he turned around, “It’s getting late. I’ll go prepare something in the kitchen.”
Saying this, he left like he was escaping, and under the strands of hair blown by the breeze, his ears were completely flushed.
He left in a hurry, and Tong Sui couldn’t stop her.
He could manage to do some odd chores, but when it came to cooking, he truly felt overwhelmed; it was better not to waste food.
Tong Sui wandered around the spacious villa, trying to find chores he could do.
Yet he underestimated the level of development in smart home appliances of this era; they had completely liberated human hands.
Even the small yard outside the villa was neatly maintained by automatic sprinklers and robots.
The lush green lawn caught Tong Sui’s eye as he crouched down, lost in thought: this place could grow vegetables, right? It seemed the prices of ingredients in the bug world were pretty steep. Oh, and there was a lake not too far away; it looked like he could go fishing too.
Gotta save where I can and spend where it’s necessary.
The old butler, Carl, came down from the starship and saw this scene.
The young and handsome male bug lord was crouched on the ground, hugging his knees and staring thoughtfully at the lawn, creating a harmonious picture.
When he first heard about General Bai Xingluo’s marriage to an unknown male bug, he assumed it was a method of evasion from punishment.
After all, the general disliked male bugs.
But suddenly, she no longer thought that way.
Carl had lived a good portion of his life, and his profession required him to be perceptive, yet the male bug before him felt entirely different.
He was polite and gentle, unlike the hypocritical manners often found in the aristocracy. His eyes were clean and sincere, lacking any superiority or pretence.
Like a little bird, it gently perches on the tips of reeds but never remains sullied by the murky waters below; every feather is clean and beautiful.
If it chose to rest on someone’s shoulder, it would surely be a tremendous gift.
Carl couldn’t help but wonder where General Bai Xingluo found such a unique and charming male bug.
He calmed his expression and approached softly.
“Lord Tong Sui, we’ve brought everything from your home. Where would you like it placed?”
She had intentionally softened his voice, yet she still scared the young male bug.
His raven-like lashes fluttered, and after two seconds, his pupils gradually focused, showing no signs of wariness.
“Thank you, butler; just place it in the master bedroom.”
“Understood.”
Carl carried the cardboard box into the villa’s hall. In the open kitchen, enticing aromas and sounds drifted out.
He paused.
In the kitchen stood a tall figure, skillfully chopping vegetables at the counter, while the stove simmered, bubbling away.
Had it not been for that habitual emotionless face, he would hardly dare to associate the female bug before him with the aloof Bai Xingluo.
But indeed, this scene was unfolding before his eyes.
Noticing his gaze, Bai Xingluo turned his head and glanced at the stunned Carl.
“Have the items been brought back?”
Carl took a moment to collect himself and raised the box in his hand, “Everything belonging to Lord Tong Sui is here.”
Tong Sui had very few belongings, just a large cardboard box containing old clothes and some gaming equipment left from the original owner.
As a male bug, his possessions were indeed remarkably few.
The strong sense of competition among male bugs often leads to a massive urge to purchase and they are usually the main consumers, frequently requiring an additional house just to store their belongings.
Bai Xingluo frowned slightly as he looked at the box.
If other male bugs had something, his male lord had to have it too—and even better.
“Carl, contact the game manufacturer and the fashion designer for me. Remember, price is not an issue; I want the very best.”
“Understood, I’ll get in touch right away.”
As night fell, the villa lights turned on, and an array of exquisite, appetizing dishes were served on the table, steaming hot.
The variety of dishes was abundant, with flavours ranging from sour and spicy to savoury and sweet.
Actually, the physical capabilities of the bug species had evolved to be stronger than those of humans. Their eating habits didn’t require frequent meals; they could even get by on nutritional supplements.
Yet Bai Xingluo insisted on preparing an entire table of dishes.
Bai Xingluo was initially standing by the dining table, but he was soon pulled down to sit by Tong Sui. “We need to eat together; it tastes better that way.”
Bai Xingluo paused but did not refuse this time.
His mind wasn’t on the food; it was completely focused on the young male bug beside him, silently noting Tong Sui’s preferences for each dish.
